Well, it’s different for everyone, I’m sure! Mine would be dumping the hubby and my life and running off with a gorgeous guy I met through blogging to start my life over 😉
Well, if I was planning an upheaval of my life…. But I’m good right now with the way things are 🙂 thanks for the offer, though. You’re a good friend, Robert!
Slept at 23:30 woke at 4:00 then slept at 4:30 and woke at 6:30 – now that’s a fair amount of sleep!
Busy day. Work and study. How did your English/Bengali thing go? 🙂
Why did you wake up at 4:00, if you had to sleep at 4:30 again?
It went well. In Bengali!! What screwed the day, was the political science presentation which was finally executed today. The girl who was supposed to do the introduction and conclusion went away 1 minute before the presentation, to some rehearsal. I had to do her part, which I hadn’t prepared, I had to do my part, which went well (Tagore’s concept of nationalism in India), also, I had to do the parts by the others too, because they hadn’t prepared well and because I study!! (Tagore’s concept of nationalism West and Japan). In short, I had to do it all! I fumbled, stammered, spoke too fast or too slow (I have stage fright!!!!) And the option was, we could speak in any language. So I mostly spoke in Bengali cause I was too nervous…. Then the teacher said that though she had allowed us, she was disappointed that we spoke in Bengali…. And another couple of bad things. Glad to get it all out now….. Thanks.
I get up each morning to meditate. It’s a good time to do it because it’s kind of peaceful. 🙂
So you were supposed to do it as a team and the rest of the team members let you down? Wow – that’s not do good. Glad to hear that you managed to get through it without falling down or anything! I always thought Tagore was a poet. Didn’t realise he dabbled in politics.
And now that it’s over – you can relax, yes? 🙂
Great!!
Tagore=poet, author, lyricist, musician, artist, philosopher and had an idea of almost every topic.
No. Have to finish the Bengali English thingy had a bad quatre with the know-it-all dude. Fucked up attitudes
Even I need to find more about him. The guy has brilliant short stories, one of the best. And try to read the definition he gave of his short stories, those few lines capture everything.
I couldn’t find Tagore’s own definition (I’d love it if you could send me the link), but I found this poignant quote:
“Tagore’s best stories examine the lives of Bengal’s submerged groups: the ryot; the traditional housewife; the abandoned child; the university student who carries all his parent’s aspirations; the Bengali trying to be an imitation Englishman, who makes himself look foolish and strews all around him the wreckage of others’ lives.” (India’s Prisoner: A Biography of Edward John Thompson, 1886-1946).
Found this translation, though I don’t feel that it can invoke the same emotions
Chhota pran, chhota byatha chhota chhota duhkha katha Nitantai sahaj saral Sahasra bismrti raxi pratyaha yetechhe bhasi Tari du-chariti axrujal. Nahi barnanar chhata ghatanar ghanaghata Nahi tattva nahi upadex Antare atrpti rabe sabga kari mane habe Shes hayeo haila na ses. (Simple events of life, happy or sad, Some sad strings from the train of forgetfulness, Not fraught with heavy descriptions, Not crowded with events, No advice, no philosophy Only the feeling that the story is not yet over Although there is no more to read)
That is sooo sweet! I love that he turns my conception of what a story should be entirely on its head and yet still sounds so right and so inspiring. Now I must read some of his work! 🙂
Checked my collection and it seems that I already have a copy of ‘Fireflies: A Collection of Proverbs, Aphorisms and Maxims’ so I’ll dig that out first. Then I’ll have a look for his short stories. 🙂
Being loved is different and feeling superior to all is different. All I want to do is be a better writer and painter. That too, is different
Happy Wednesday and good evening amigo
Read lots of books – including the dictionary. And keep talking to English people. Engage intelligent people in conversation. But that’s not really wisdom – that’s just knowledge. 😉
Hope you had a nice nap. 🙂
*fires up Wikipedia*
“Santiniketan (Bengali: শান্তিনিকেতন Santiniketôn) is a small town near Bolpur in the Birbhum district of West Bengal, India, approximately 160 km north of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta). It was established by Maharshi Devendranath Tagore, and later expanded by his son Rabindranath Tagore whose vision became what is now a university town, Visva-Bharati University.”
You’re off to university already? 😀
It means that I’m not raising your hopes because only you can do that by your actions (and grades and all that wonderful stuff). Something like that. 🙂
Gotta go now – stuff to do, people to see (lunch to eat). 🙂
Kill everything first…
