Things I need to do but can’t seem to get around to:
- Take home a plant that I’ve had in the office here for more than a decade. It’s a Peace Lily and it looks like it’s suffering badly now. It needs new soil, more sunlight and a gentler environment. Remind me to take it my arms, carry it home and give it some TLC.
- Publish something. Anything! I need to bring something up to a standard that can be enjoyed by an audience of millions. I mean, I’ve written loads of stuff, but … I don’t know. I’m not sure it’s good enough. You know?
- Stop reading so much. It’s getting to be like it’s just one book after another. I keep buying more and more books and so it feels now like I’m drowning in the obligation to read them. It’s not as if I’m discriminating in my tastes either. Some of the books I read just bore me, but I still finish them. Not sure what’s driving me. Fear of being unoccupied?
- Go and pee. Yeah, that old cookie. I’ve been sat here for the last hour just bursting for a pee and … okay, that’s it – I’m gone.
Well, the same funny thing happened to my Peace Lily after I got “her” home. She has been in bloom for over a month now and the happiness she breathes can be bottled up for winter 🙂
Your standard in writing will be my inspiration.
Have a blissful day!

I sincerely hope I can help my Peace Lily to achieve the same level of happiness, Iulia.
Thank you for your kindness and – Happy Thursday! 🙂

You’ve had a plant in the office for more than a decade? Wow! I’ve never … oh wait, I’ve never worked anywhere for more than … better not say exactly how long, but it’s more than two years and less than
five. 😉
Are you thinking of self, indie, or traditional publishing? (I highly doubt the latter.) A book of your poetry would be great … plus, you already came up with a title! 😊

Actually it’s been almost 2 decades but I didn’t want to say that because it made me feel old. 🙂
Self-publishing.
No-one reads poetry. But that would be fine because I don’t know how to write it. Win-win! 😀

You and the peace lily have been through a lot together! 😉
D’accord.
Hmm … okay. You want to appeal to the masses. So, something like Fifty Shades of Grey?

Yeah – a lot of sitting around in the office, vegetating! Good that I had the peace lily to keep me company. 🙂
Hmm – could do. Food for thought.

Haha – vegetating. Good one. 😁
I prefer felines to foliage for company. 😊
A sleazy novel? Hmm … dunno.

My peace lilies are getting huge. Plants always seemed to do well when I worked in an office (maybe it was the gardeners who came in on the sly) now I have a sunroom and its very kind year round to my plants. There is something satisfying about a to do list you can cross items off of, so perhaps they should all include taking a bathroom break. Check and ahh…

I usually make sure all my to-do lists start with ‘write a list’. Gives me a boost from the start. 🙂
I took my PL home, took it out of the old pot, washed the pot thoroughly, put in fresh compost, popped the plant in, gave it a nice drink and then put it on the front window-ledge so that it gets some sun.
It was nice walking home with it because I got chance to show it the fresh air, the park, the river, the birds and stuff like that. It was an eye opener to a plant that had been stuck in the same place for (whisper it) almost 2 decades! At least, it would have been if it had eyes. 🙂
And yes, I also ticked off the last item on the list. Ahhhh! 😀

Maybe play it some Kenny G. Plants love him;)

Must be due. The twenty year anniversary has got to be soon now. I can feel that this will be a good year for the PL. What plans do you have coming up for fruition soon, Dee?

I have my high school reunion tonight — I will not tell you how many years! I’m only going because a friend I’ve known since we were small is coming in from Florida and I want to see her. I have a story in my head I want to write that I’m working on…well, to be honest, a whole bunch, but they don’t always seem to go anywhere!

I’ve never been to one of those. I find it hard to keep in touch. I hope this goes really well for you, though. And I hope you get those stories out. Good luck. 🙂

Robert, I had a wonderful time. Some of the people I hadn’t seen in many years and yet we still recognized each other. Well, and we had name tags, lol!

Hahaha – I was going to say how amazing, but your name-tag comment stripped all the mystique away! 😀
Glad you had a wonderful time. I envy you your sociability. I went to see a group of people in Brixton, some of whom I knew, and all I got from it was a headache (and some dinner – which was nice).

People always shake their heads when I say I was shy, but I really was in my school days. Now I tend to say the first thing that comes to mind and like to think it’s part of my charm 😉

I love that you can do that! Saying the first thing that comes into one’s head is a very underrated skill! Yes – I would say you should carry on doing that will impunity (whatever that means). 🙂

Bring that plant home!
About the books. I do the same, but when I get bored, I stop reading eventually….. Then I get back again
Go pee

I brought the plant home and it’s now sitting on the front window ledge next to me with fresh compost and a clean pot. It hasn’t resumed growing yet (probably still in shock) but it will. 🙂
And yes – you’ll be happy to know that I peed! 😀

We have a houseful of plants. Love them. They thrive here! Plants growing up the wall and around the ceiling! 🙂

That has to be beautiful. We have an apartment and the plants are only on the balcony. Not enough light for the surrounding buildings

Does everyone in India have maids and servants? (apart from, maybe, the maids and servants)
LikeLiked by 1 person
Can you be clear? Yes, maids and servants are a major part of the household
LikeLiked by 1 person
No, sorry, you are clear. I was just absentminded and didn’t read properly. Yes middle class, upper middle class, upper-class, all have maids and servants, at least one.
