Is it worth bothering? I mean, loads of people are producing new and lovely combinations of words so why should I add to them. And if I do, do I go down the main stream or do I dig a new river? And yeah, I know that I’ll feel different about it all tomorrow so there’s little point in ‘deciding’ anything now.
I know that feeling, I think that sometimes… But then I go with… I am unique… We all are and so we say it differently… And on top of that… I just have a need to express… It’s my ‘life-blood’ and the ‘air I breathe’

Ah, then we must, Morag (I’m guessing?). We must express and keep on putting ourselves out there in all our dazzling colours and brightest tones. The muddy crowd writes, but we fly aloft on wings of poetry and prose!
Well, that’s the theory anyway. ๐

It is! Robert C Day no less! I’m English. Your name would seem to originate somewhere in Northern Europe?

Yes it is Celtic in origin so Welch / Scottish. My father is (was) Scottish.

Whisky is something I tried a couple of times when I was a kid (there’s that word again) but I preferred Southern Comfort. Gin I’ve never tried, what’s it like?

I like Arran whisky and a few others but it is an acquired taste. I like Gin… Especially the more expensive ones, it is bitter and I like bitter drinks. I think they are more interesting with different botanicals in. I am more of a connoisseur of gin but still a novice. I am not much of a drinker. My father was an alcoholic and was one of the 4 out of 5 siblings who were heavy drinkers. He went into rehab 3 times in his last 7 years so I have a healthy respect for alcohol. Yeah and I can carry on on this topic too but that is enough. I have never had Southern Comfort. What is it like?

SC is like smooth whisky. Kind of sweetish and not bitter or harsh at all. I haven’t had a drink in decades so I’m not even sure why I’m talking about it. ๐

Sounds palette-able… Tea and coffee are good too… Many different flavors

Yeah, I have one of those party boxes of tea too. My fave is the lobsang suchong (pardon the spelling if it’s wrong). But, to be honest, PG Tips is my go-to brew.

Noffke is Polish /German. People always get confused by the combination.

Not confused at all. It totally sounds Polish/German. So are you multilingual too, Morag?

I wouldn’t boast about being multilingual, I speak English and Afrikaans, learnt a bit of Dutch and tried to learn Spanish. As a result I enjoy figuring out written language but I think my language studies have proven that I am not a natural linguist. I do love the study of the history and roots of language.
And are you multilingual? I guess you studied French?

Yeah, French and German at school, and now I’m learning Hindi. I also have a smattering of English. ๐
History is interesting to me too, but I don’t tend to seek it out but the roots of language are something that I do seek out. Colour me fascinated by that sort of thing.

I am not hugely interested in political history and wars but in the development of mankind – that is where language comes in for me… Also to some extent history of music, art and drama. But I prefer to live in the moment rather than dwelling too much in the past, especially if it’s further back than 2017 ๐
