You know when you just have a phrase spinning in your mind and you just want it out and so you write it down somewhere along with what it means to you? Well …
Hannibalus Cannabilius
There’s a series of books by Thomas Harris based around a character called Hannibal Lecter who, because he is a cannibal, has become known as Hannibal the Cannibal. If one of those guys who wrote Latin literature (like Cicero, Virgil, Ovid or Horace) were to have written the books instead then perhaps the name would have changed to Hannibalus (or perhaps not; I’m no expert in Latin). Then, if he’d have been a pot-head instead of an eater of human flesh, then perhaps his name in common parlance would have been Hannibalus Cannabilius.
So, yeah, hopefully, that will have exorcised the phrase from my head and I can get on with some work.
Have you noticed that I’m a lot more random lately?
Yeah, me too.
Should I be worried?
Nah, I didn’t think so.
Thank you for the post. Now Hannibalus Cannibalus will be stuck in my mind too, for the next few days!
