Addled: unable to think clearly; confused.
Why is it that, as children, we chafe against the bonds and strictures that adults inflict upon us and, as we move away from childhood, we embrace the freedom we have longed for and yet, as adults, we reimpose a new set of decrees and orders on those around us.
I mean, I longed to be able to watch TV whilst having a meal as a child and yet now that I’m big enough and grown enough to realise this dream I find myself ‘discouraged’ from doing so.
I don’t think it’s a case of that I searched for and found my childhood again, rather I think that being an adult rather addles us.
