I am not alive enough to walk you through the mess that is my mind today so I will say only that I have nine minutes to scratch the surface. If I were a butterfly this would take me to the toddler stage of my life. I know that you might not know that butterflies only live twenty-four hours (or so I read once and I have not the time to check) so this is why I am writing this sentence.
What is the point of me walking around in the sunshine watching my feet, or a book, or the results of the breeze on the thin, thin clothing wrapped around certain shapes of people? What is the sense of me even asking you for the point? There is no point. I might as well stay home in bed and wait for the night to come again. When hunger comes I may pad downstairs to find food in a parody of the hunter the historians say I once was – although I don’t really remember this very well.
Several minutes must have passed. Have I the time to save and to check-edit? Maybe. Let me just post instead – just in case I don’t. Two minute warning. Siren sounds. Gone.

I find nihilism soothing.

Couldn’t do it. I tried, but my attention slipped away after the first few minutes. I find nihilism to be something I experience when things are awry and materialism to be something that is wrecking the planet (or do I mean consumerism? Anyways, it’s just the same – a focus on matter rather than that which animates it). Modern philosophy either bores, confuses or depresses me.

I have no idea why I find nihilism somewhat comforting. Bizarre, no?

Now that I’m more alert, I can write a better comment. 😊 I should’ve pointed you to the part Meaning Creation and Destruction and asked you to skip the rest – sorry. Hope you enjoy your Sunday.

Ah, what a shame that you didn’t – and now, unfortunately, it’s way, waaay, waaaaaaay too late to go back. 🙂

Who’s being melodramatic? (Hint: It’s not me.) 😜
Happy Monday, Robert. 😊 Only a few days left until July! (Yes, I’m stating the obvious.)

Erm … no, I give up – give me more clues! 🙂
And yes – Happy Monday and Happy June (while it lasts).

I guess that I didn’t really recognise it as melodrama (
a sensational dramatic piece with exaggerated characters and exciting events intended to appeal to the emotions). For me it was more like a sarcastic knockback to any attempts to make me read any more of that article. 🙂

Clever. Wasn’t gonna make any more attempts anyway. 😊

As in the updated entry for Earth in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – ‘Mostly harmless.’ The original entry was, of course, ‘Harmless.’

Ah, if only life were that simple. Dint think I’ve ever, ever, ever done that. Hey-ho. How goes your weekend. Mine is waaaay too busy so far.

Not wanting to rain on your already miserable parade buuuut my name means red admiral so I kinda know that butterflies can live for up to nine months … (awkward silence) Soooo is there anyway that this day can improve for you … should I go …. yeah probably for the best …. see you after nine pm …. toodles ….

Gotta like that whole comment. I can learn a lot from your way of correcting me so graciously and kindly. I should have looked it up but I was in the library and it was nine minutes before the machine shut down automatically when I began to type. But something shifted. My day got better after that. Thanks for caring.

I’ll have to watch this tomorrow – I’m asleep at the moment. Do please drop a quick word here so that I get a reminder?

And don’t worry – my day got better. 🙂

I remembered and I’m listening to it now. I used to be a big Sisters of Mercy fan so this is excellent! Can you believe I used to be into the whole goth scene! 🙂 Lovely reminder, and so topical too.

I can believe it…you grew up around that era, right…? Punk, post-punk, goth? I used to be really into the scene, too. Still like some of the music, but I also get really nostalgic for that time, and for the people I knew. Brings back so many memories. Guess that’s what happens when you get old. *laugh*

Try this for a laugh – stop listening to the old songs and listen to the stuff the kids are doing these days – some of it us really good! There’s stuff being done these days that doesn’t remind me of anything that’s ever been done before – and I think that’s excellent news! 🙂

I’d ask you to make me a mix tape, but that would date me even more. LOL. I’ve got someone that has a ginormous record collection and they make me mixes/music collections from time to time…mostly, though, I listen to movie soundtracks, neo-medieval stuff, dark ambient, and classical stuff…stuff without words…while I’m writing etc. I’ve kinda fallen off being “on trend” with music, unfortunately.

I think they’re called Playlists now. 🙂
On trend music was something I avoided for a while. I broke the habit when I joined a weird sex cult and am only just getting back. It’s better than I thought it would me. You should read my post https://robertcday.wordpress.com/2017/06/27/little-mix/ to get a flavour.
But, yeah – stuff without words suits me best when I’m writing. Or with backward words. Gosh, I actually wrote about that too here: https://robertcday.wordpress.com/2017/05/18/upside-down-and-backwards/
Sorry about that – I’m just full of … stuff today. 🙂

Nice. I don’t take up much room, and I only eat screaming carrots but you can’t “hear” that electromagnetic wavelength, anyway. LOL 🙂 Oh, and I always wanted to move to England. I blame The Secret Garden and Rebecca. *packs bags* (Footnote: TOTALLY just kidding!–just in case)

I believe so? The short piece noting the brevity of life. What I derive from it is what is the point of life, our life and what do we want the point to be. Maybe I am missing something?

Ah, I see – then yes, you got it. It’s just that I literally wrote the piece in nine minutes and I thought that I wouldn’t be able to get anything profound over in that short space of time. Glad that I did. Thank you.
