Given the choice between making people weep and enabling them to laugh (not that anyone has given me that choice (or even that ability)) I would rather make folks laugh. Sure, there’s a certain pride involved in being able to wring tears from the eyes of readers, but isn’t there enough sadness in the world already without me pissing more into the pot?
Ofcourse! Though I do the opposite. Or, the best choice, I would say, is too shock them or surprise them out of their wits. Lives are boring nowadays. A little bit of thrill can’t hurt!

Totally shocked. Another option, not very differently though, is spook and scare. Sad and happy are too very common emotions. I’ll try to find the others too. It’s not always black and white. There different shades too. Just have to see and recognise them

How about get people to flip-flop through the emotions – happy, then sad, then scared, then thrilled, then … (whatever the other emotions are)?

I have tried that. Giving a twisted end to the stories. That works at times. But sometimes they just don’t get it!!!

Ha – I’ll make them get it – or they will be in trouble! π

And how will they get in trouble?

You can’t hurt a fly. No need to fear you πππ All you can do to hurt is not show up down the manhole!! That still hurts!!!!!

It was your fault. And then, what if there was ‘it’ inside that manhole? What if it had taken me?

Hahaha – yeah, that’s true. I am irresponsible and I truly apologise.

You left a child alone, down a manhole, all by herself. *sniff sniff, sob sob* you’ll never be forgiven;

It’s a shame I will bear to the grave. Deep apologies.

Good point, but there are people who enjoy indulging in sadness. Not me, of course. π Plus, just making people laugh would get boring after a while, wouldn’t it? Good to change it up to keep things interesting.

There must be more to life than variety.

Agreed, but there must be more to life than humour. Humour, when used too much, becomes a crutch that takes the place of mindful exploration of difficult subjects. But then again, maybe I’m wrong.

‘pends.
It can be a crutch.
But it can be a means to growth too.

Interesting. Humour is a tool, after all.
